Each iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch has a series of 40 letters and numbers called the Unique Device Identifier. The UDID is similar to a serial number and is needed when installing apps before they become available on the iTunes store.
How to find your device’s UDID:
- Plug your iPhone or iPad into your computer and wait until iTunes recognizes it.
- Select your iPhone or iPad from the Devices list on the left side of iTunes
- Click the “Summary” tab
- You’ll see the words “serial number” beside the picture of the iPhone or iPad.
- Click the words “serial number” — you should see the word “identifer” and a long alphanumeric string (it looks like ed948da923a928ed) — this is your UDID.
- Press Command-C (Mac) or Control-C (Win) to copy the UDID to the clipboard and paste it into a comment in this message or an email reply
You can also download one of the popular UDID Apps from the App Store. This will email the UDID directly from the device. I recommend UDITIT, because it’s so simple and quick.
